The Pond House was built as a restaurant 30 years ago this October by the Jones family. Designed to look like a large log cabin with exposed rafters. The hours since opening have been Thursday, Friday and Saturday for dinner.
Yes
We don't take a reservation or call ahead but we do like to have a heads up if you are bringing a large group. Tables are sat as people arrive so we don't guarantee a time but we do strive to get everyone enjoying their meals as swiftly as possible.
They open at 6 pm on Thursday and 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. They close at 9 PM each night
Famous for their mouthwatering, smoked pork chops, but the steaks here are just as good!

Sweet! Just spending the night in nearby Bainbridge and our B&B owner suggested it. Awesome food and service
Always friendly service and the biggest, juiciest, tenderest, and tastiest steak ever!
Pork chops are great.
Very clean and friendly servers
Food excellent!! Atmosphere great. Be prepared to wait but it's worth it!!
Great food, steak and pork chops were excellent.
Excellent food at its finest
Always fabulous food great service.
It was perfect like always. The double pork chops are well worth the hour drive across the state line. Blackberry cobbler and ice cream (wow mamma). Waitress was great very polite and respectful, all around great time. Will definitely be back with friends again. Great job guy and gals.
The Pond House is a hidden Gem located about 10 miles from Bainbridge, Winner of the best Steaks in 2019, Best Seafood and pork chops, you can not beat the quality, staff and price! If you come near by don’t miss it, remember to come Thursday to Saturday only and get there early
Pork Chops enough for 3 meals. Best ever!!! Sides were good but no surprises. In group of 11. Everyone extra happy!!!!!!
Delicious food. Great atmosphere. A little on the expensive side, but the food and people make it worth the price.
Food and service was great
I heard this place had new owners. The employees didn't seem very friendly and the food wasn't prepared very well. Maybe it was a bad night for them but it is to far to go and isn't cheap for it not to be good.
Best steak I ever had.
Service was great! And food was wonderful!
A very nice atmosphere, we enjoyed our meal. We went the Saturday before mother's day. We got there about 15 minutes after they opened and our party of 8 got seated right away. Fried shrimp and pork chops were great. I can't wait to try the steak next time.
I am from out of state. I accidentally found this restaurant. I ordered a steak. Absolutely delicious and dripping with flavor and juices. The woman at the cash register was very kind, friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great. I will definitely be coming back.
It is everything you could hope for. Excellence service great food and friendly atmosphere. We live 60 miles away it is well worth the trip.
My husband and I went to the Pond House to celebrate my cousin's 40th birthday. It was a bit of a drive ( around and hour and a half) to get there from where we live.I was slightly concerned when pulling up due to the restaurant reminding me of someone's home instead of being a popular restaurant, but we drove right in.The staff was very friendly and helpful. Being Southern, be all ordered sweet tea, which came out in pitchers and rolls that were soft and slightly buttery. I regret not taking any pictures of our actual meal. My husband got a combo platter with fried shrimp and crab cakes and I ordered a prime rib. The prime rib was the size of my very large plate. Soaking in the juices and cooked exactly how I asked it. It was delicious. My husband snarfed down his plate only left with a satisfied grin.I hate the drive, but food and service wise, this place is hands down a wonderful spot to visit!
Iam from out of town, some one told me to have dinner at The Pond House, it was very very good from the service up to the meal, i will give them a 10 stars. When in town again i will sure visit the Pond House again. Very good.
The food here is wonderful. The steaks and pork chops are so huge and cooked just the way you like them. Give them a try, I feel sure you will love them too.
Great food. Top of the shelf dining. Service is not the friendliest
Amazing. Food is all made in house and you can tell. Pork chop was very good. The BBQ pork was great. Only open Thursday Friday Saturday. Worth the drive
Great food, no matter what you order!
I used to love coming to the Pond House for their seafood. I waited to write a review after going a couple times recently just to see if it was a bad night in the kitchen. Unfortunately not. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. They were so salty that they were inedible. After telling the waitress this she just shrugged and walked off. Next was the seafood platter. The food looked and tasted as if it had just been sitting in the grease, and it also was so salty you couldn't even taste the food. On a positive note, another member of our party ordered the steak and it was fantastic. Here is hoping that they put the salt shaker up and change the grease so this place can go back to the old Pond House reputation.
The only good restaurant in area... Unless you want to drive to Dothan or Tally. Always busy. Took a very long time to get food last visit but usually that does not happen. Definitely will go back. The cobbler is excellent.
One of the best steaks you'll ever eat. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Love this place.
Food was great! 👍 Some of the best shrimp and scallops I've ever had. The waitress was always prompt and friendly. I love that they say a pitcher of tea in the table and left it, I hate running out and waiting. Steaks looked great, that might be next trip because I will definitely be back.
My son proposed to his girlfriend in this restaurant. They were great! The staff was helpful and they helped make their day special!
Great food! Steaks and chops are on point. A little pricey but overall a good place to eat.
Awesome place, great service and that Josiah kid was a delight to chat with. Thanks so much !!!
My husband and I had a date night here. We tried it because of the raving Google reviews, but we're sadly disappointed. First, let me say our waitress was super sweet. Service was not an issue. The menu had a wide variety of options and fairly reasonably priced. Those are all goodPros: -Friendly staff-Beautiful location and decor. Quaint.-Menu options-Self serve drinks -pitchers left on table-Left over steak cut thinly with provalone cheese on a slider bun was delish!Cons:-Steaks and chops way TOO salty Edit: Ends up it was the brine on the steak that was too salty. -Porkchops taste more like smoked ham - we bought leftovers to flavor green beans.-Sweet potato too small-Cheese in salad was literally a cube, like 1x1 cube or so it seemed.-Steak was overcooked - as well as the two at the table beside us. I didn't send it back because I know better. One of them did.-Those dang gnats!!! If we decide to go again, it will be in the winter, but that is unlikely.
Excellent food, great service and wonderful atmosphere.
Food is awesome. I had steak and my wife had chicken. Both cooked perfect. No need for any steak sauce on my steak. It was really tender with great flavor.
Best steak ever. Doesn't get any better
You can certainly tell the Pondhouse has changed owners!!! My favorite two things from here have always been the cole slaw and the steak. Not anymore, the cole slaw didn't even taste like slaw and the steak was overdone. This will be my last visit especially after the rudeness I encountered when I complained about the food.
very nice great food, friendly atmosphere
Restaurant is way out in the middle of nowhere.... Service is super slow. Food is decent 👌, not great! Don't get coleslaw 🤮 Definitely not worth the trip.
Best steak I ever had! Porterhouse was juicy and tender! No sauce needed. If I'm ever back on that side of the state I will be back. Thanks.
Great food and good service
Pork chops. Yes, pork chops. Best ever!!!!!! Great service, awesome food. Worth the drive from Dothan. Parking is sketchy though. I was blocked in and if another customer had not moved, I would have had to find several people to move their vehicles. If you go, be careful on the parking. Can't emphasize enough.
Pond House has great food
Service was great, friendly and personable. This was the best ribeye I've ever eaten in my lifetime. I can't wait to go again. The gnats on the property are insane in the Summer time.
The food was cooked perfectly and the people were all so nice.
Fried catfish was yummy!
Great Porterhouse! I hear they also have a delicious smoked pork chop but I can never get past the steak.
Like this restaurant! It's not a large place & you have to wait a bit sometimes. But the food is always consistly good & well worth any wait! Serve is always great too! Lots of smiling faces!
